Whats Happen At Country Taste Farm

 Happy New Year

Whats Happen at Country Taste Farm

Got up New Years Eve and I had to take a few pictures of the Beautiful frost on the trees at the farm, I am sure it’s a sign of how wonderful  2021 will be. However New years day the sun Came out and all the beauty was breathtaking  . 2021 will be a great year for sure!!! May I take a moment to thank God for all he has provide me with.

We have completed a new trust system in High Tunnel #2; we are removing the wood support trellis. The wood may hold some diseases and it is in the way for some mechanical tillage. The new trust system allows about 24” more head space, high tensile wire is used to hook the support string which allows adjustable plant spacing in the row.

Our small Green house has been changed, Pots have been added to the floor to grow Tomatoes, we have use the pots in the large Green house to grow cherry tomatoes and have had great success to produce ripe tomatoes in early June. We hope to grow early ripe full size tomatoes in early June in the small green house. A advantage to the pots is we can replace the soil every year with new soil enriched with composted organic fertilizer and the new soil does not have a build up soil born diseases.

So we will have to try some early  maturing  tomatoes:

Early First Prize Hybrid Tomato

Taste the great flavor you will come to appreciate in Early First Prize, with a very earlier harvest. The  fruit reach 4 to 7 ounces, and the indeterminate vines are productive over a long season. A good disease resistance package and plentiful harvests make this our choice for early maturity. 56 days

In 6 Weeks we will plant our first tomato Seeds in the basement. We will now send CSA NEWS every other week.
